2026 Ford Mustang GT Review: 480HP V8 Still Worth It in an EV World?
The Mustang GT still does 0–60 in 4.1 seconds with a naturally aspirated Coyote V8 — no turbo, no hybrid, just noise. But Ford finally gave it brains to match the brawn.
Track: Brutal and Balanced
MagneRide 4.0 and the Performance Pack (Brembo 6-piston, Torsen LSD) make the 2026 car 2.3s faster around Willow Springs than the 2023. The 10-speed auto is telepathic; the 6-speed manual is still available and now rev-matches perfectly.
- Engine: 5.0L Coyote V8 • 480hp @ 7150rpm • 415 lb-ft
- Weight: 3,827 lbs • Brembo braking 70–0 in 148 ft
- MPG: 16/24 (real world 18.2)
- Price: $46,885 base, $59k as tested
Daily: Surprisingly Livable
Sync 4 with 13.2" screen, wireless CarPlay, and adaptive cruise make it a proper GT. Rear seats still useless for adults, trunk fits two cabin bags. NVH is up — you hear the V8 even at 70mph, which is the point.
Verdict
9.1/10 — If you want the last great V8 under $60k, buy it now. In 2 years, emissions rules will kill it. Resale is already up 8% YoY.
